Editorial: Who is the most corrupt between Desta Ledamo and Alemayehu Timotewos Deboch? Both are the most corrupt individuals in the history of the Sidama nation. However, Desta shares more of his loots with Shimelis Abdissa and his lackeys than Alemayehu does with his mentor, Mufriat Kamil. The ruling prosperity party cadres in Sidama State in Ethiopia have been exposed time and again for bad governance, corruption, nepotism, cronyism and gross violations of basic human rights. Several members of the ruling party had submitted numerous appeals and petitions to the Ethiopian ruler Abiy Ahmed exposing widespread web of corruption by individual appointed by him including:

(1) Desta Ledamo who was implicated in stealing public funds and (a)purchasing a property worth Birr 300 million in Seattle, USA, (b) Purchasing property of undisclosed value in Turkey; (c) Building properties of various undisclosed values in Hawassa, and Addis Ababa (Finfinnee); (d) Owning 7000 meter square of land in Hawassa in the name of his relatives; (d) Siphoning Birr 160 million from the back payment for coffee producing peasant farmers; (f) Collecting gifts amounting 7 kg worth Birr 80 million and ad infinitum….

Despite the repeated plea by the Sidama civilians and ruling party members, Ethiopian ruler Abiy Ahmed did not bother to discipline and remove his appointees. He had appointed these corrupt, and inept lackeys to exact revenge against the Sidama nation for their relentless campaign to restore their right to self rule which culminated in the establishment of the Sidama Regional State through the 20 November 2019 Referendum in which 98% voted for Regional Statehood.

2) Almayehu Ximotewos Deboch: This prosperity party cadre was the second most corrupt official in the Sidama State imposed on the nation to exact revenge for Abiy Ahmed and Mufriat Kamil, the former head of Southern Region Party disbanded in 2019. It appears that Alemayehu Ximotewos and Desta Ledamo the two most most incompetent individuals, along side Abraham Marshallo an illiterate head of prosperity party in the region, who looted public finance in millions of US dollars had finally disagreed when sharing the loot. As a result, the looter in chief Desta Ledamo got a green light from Abiy Ahmed and Shimelis Abdissa to remove Alemayehu Deboch and imprison him. This will never address bad governance and corruption in Sidama. All core prosperity party cadres should either resign or be removed from power and brough to justice and be held accountable. Accountability will never be attained when the most corrupt removes and jails his fellow looter and attempts to deflect his crimes against humanity.
